KYIV, UKRAINE - Ukrainian regional operator Windrose Airlines took delivery of its first ATR 72-600. Windrose deployed its new turboprop on scheduled domestic routes.
The 5.8-year-old aircraft registered UR-RWA (MSN 1178) is dry-leased from the Danish lessor Nordic Aviation Capital. The plane was previously operated by the Malaysian regional operator Firefly.
It has been used on routes between Kyiv-Lviv and Kyiv-Odesa.
The aircraft is the first of six ATR 72-600s due for delivery to Windrose Airlines. The next two ex-Nesma Airlines (Saudi Arabia) ATR 72-600s are under maintenance at Woensdrecht and Mönchengladbach, in Germany. These planes are owned by Dubai-based lessor DAE Capital.
Windrose's fleet also includes one Airbus A320-200, four Airbus A321-200s, and five Embraer E145s.
The addition of the ATRs turboprops is part of Windrose's business plan to add new domestic routes to its regional network from Kyiv.
